Strengthening Michigan's Human Services Systems Through Advocacy and Education.
Welcome to MCSSA
The Michigan County Social Services Association is a statewide organization whose members are Department of Health and Human Services county directors, county child welfare directors, district managers, supervisors, and board members from all 83 counties. Two-thirds of the board members are appointed by county commissioners and one-third are appointed by the Governor. MCSSA represents community social and economic concerns, advocates on social services issues, represents the front-line DHHS services delivery perspective, and advocates for DHHS client populations.
MCSSA has an affiliate council:
- The Michigan Council of Social Service Workers (MCSSW)
MCSSA believes that the development and implementation of Michigan’s human services system requires active participation of local citizen boards and members of the human services delivery systems in order to ensure efficient management of resources. It is our role to advocate at the local, state, and national level by promoting social policies as defined by the membership.
